Riboflavin Wetting Test (show video)

Wetting test
executed during the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) consisting of spraying the machine internals with Riboflavin, operating the Cleaning In Place (CIP) system, then checking for residual traces of Riboflavin.

Purpose of the wetting test
The purpose of this test is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the spray devices installed in vessels or equipment using Riboflavin as a marker. The coverage provided by the spray devices will be tested to assure that all of the vessel or equipment internal surfaces are wetted.

The procedure is aqueous based and must be performed during the Factory Acceptance Test.

Where you can use it
It can be used for all Comber machines.

Molecule of Riboflavin

Circuit preparation

- A check must be undertaken to ensure that the spray devices are correctly installed and that all fittings, probes, etc. are fixed in place. The equipment must be clean and free from residues and films, especially oils and greases. Prior to the application of the Riboflavin solution, rinse the machine with water and allow the equipment to dry completely. In case if a Pressofiltro, remove the filtering element.

- Install a suitable circuit with centrifugal pump, water tank, piping, valves and instruments. The flow and the head of the centrifugal pump have to be suitable for the machine size. If possible insert a flowmeter on the pump outlet.

Test results

The visual absence of Riboflavin will constitute a test success, any visually detected Riboflavin will constitute a test failure. The results of the test are fully documented on a dedicated form.

Instruments
